All Natural Down is completely washable. Down washes extremely well but due to the oversized nature of some of our products, we recommend that you have the product professionally laundered or dry cleaned.

Reasons we suggest that you don’t home launder:
  • Home washers are often too small.
  • Household washing machines typically have an agitator, which is particularly hard on a comforter.
  • Harsh detergents can cause down to become dry and brittle resulting in breakage of the clusters.
  • The fill will mildew or disintegrate if it is not dried thoroughly.
  • Most fabrics are 100% cotton and will shrink slightly when dried in a dryer.
However, if you do have the proper equipment and decide to wash your down bedding, please do the following:

Pillows:

We strongly suggest that you use a pillow protector to prolong the life of your comforter and to provide a more convenient, washable layer that is as easy to keep clean as a pillow case.

Launder your pillow every three to five years.

  • Use a front-loading over-sized washer.
  • Wash with a mild detergent on a warm/gentle setting.
  • After the wash cycle is complete, rinse the pillow 2 additional times until all soap has been rinsed away. Then spin 2 additional times to remove excess water.
  • Dry the product completely for 4-6 hours to ensure that the down is completely free of moisture. If you feel any clumps, they’re not dry. Do not line dry.
  • Between washings, the pillow can be re-fluffed on an air setting with clean tennis balls. They’ll come out as good as new!
  • Store your pillow in a breathable bag so they can breathe and not trap moisture.

Comforters:

We strongly suggest that you use a comforter protector to prolong the life of your comforter and to provide a more convenient, washable layer that is as easy to keep clean as a sheet.

Launder your comforter every three to five years.

  • Use a front-loading over-sized washer.
  • Use gentle detergents and a low heat dry cycle.
  • Dry the product completely for 8-12 hours to ensure that the down is completely free of moisture. Do not line dry.
  • Store your comforter in a breathable bag so it can breathe and not trap moisture.

Feather Beds:

We strongly suggest that you use a feather bed protector to prolong the life of your comforter and to provide a more convenient, washable layer that is as easy to keep clean as a sheet.

Featherbeds should be treated like your mattress. You may spot clean minor spills or soiling. If more extensive cleaning is required, consult a professional dry cleaner. Due to the size and bulk of featherbeds, they should not be laundered at home.

Daily fluffing of your featherbed will help to keep the down more evenly distributed so it’s comfortable every time you use it. You may also redistribute the feathers by placing the featherbed on a flat surface, and pushing the feathers with the palm of your hand and forearm.
